Acoustic Data Protocol

The user may select the acoustic data protocol used by Subsonus during tracking operations of Subsonus Tag. The data protocol is selected in the “Configuration”→”Tracking” page. By default the data protocol is set to “Auto”, in this mode Subsonus will automatically select the optimal data protocol based on the acoustic conditions. The user may select between “High Speed” mode or “High Reliability” mode.

“High Speed” is the standard acoustic protocol historically used by Subsonus Tag. In standard acoustic conditions it offers very high data transfer rates and a high level of resilience to acoustic noise and multipath.

“High Reliability” is an acoustic protocol optimised to allow Subsonus Tag to function in difficult acoustic conditions, such as where there is high background noise, or high levels of acoustic multipath. When operating in this mode the level of data being transmitted between units is decreased.
