Quickstart

The following steps aim to get you up and running quickly.

  1. Ensure you have acquired a Certus Mini OEM and an OEM Development Kit.

  2. Plug your Certus Mini OEM into the OEM Development Board which is included in the OEM Development Kit.

  3. Connect your computer to the OEM Development Board using the USB-A to USB-C cable provided in the OEM Development Kit.

    • Plug the USB-C end of the cable into the OEM Development Board-A, and the USB-A end into your computer.

    • On the OEM Development Board, toggle the (Ext/Off/USB) switch to the USB position.

  4. Setup Advanced Navigation Manager:

Note: The Advanced Navigation Manager is only available for systems with x64 and ARM architectures.

    • Install the latest version of Java 11 from Adoptium, selecting the correct operating system and architecture for your computer. Java 11 is required to run Certus Mini Manager. Adoptium JRE 11 is the recommended Java installer to be used on all platforms.

    • Download Advanced Navigation Manager from the Certus Mini product page of the Advanced Navigation website.

    • Double click Advanced Navigation Manager to start the application. See Using Certus Mini Manager for specific notes for different platforms.

    • Select the correct COM port.

    • Select the Baud Rate. The default baud rate is 115200 bps.

    • Click Connect.

  5. Mount the unit in the standard alignment of X+ pointing forward and Z+ pointing down. For more information, see Mounting Alignment.

  6. Mount and connect the antenna(s)

Note: Applicable to Certus Mini N and Certus Mini D only. Certus Mini A operates as an AHRS only.

    • Mount the GNSS antenna(s) in a level orientation with a clear view of the sky. For the Certus Mini D (dual antenna variant), the primary antenna should be positioned directly forward of the secondary antenna with a separation of at least 0.5 metres. See GNSS Antennas.

    • Connect the coaxial antenna cables between the antennas and Certus Mini. The antenna cables should not be coiled.

    • Accurately measure the GNSS antenna offset from the centre of the Certus Mini unit to the central base of the primary antenna in the body co-ordinate frame (X+ forward and Z+ down, see The Body Co-ordinate Frame) and enter these values into the Alignment screen under the Configuration menu. See GNSS Antennas for more details.

  1. Choose a Vehicle Profile in the Filter Options screen under the Configuration menu. This should be the closest available match to your vehicle type.

  2. Check that all filters are initialised. See Filter Initialisation.

  3. The system is now ready for use.
